January 23, at the Military Engineering Institute of Siberian Federal University in the framework of the working visit arrived Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Shoigu Sergei Kuzhugetovich.
Along with the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region Viktor Tolokonsky Shoigu Sergei Kuzhugetovich inspected the work of the Military Engineering Institute SFU, where he familiarized himself with the training facilities, checked the system of electronic warfare training, military department students classes organization, and spoke with students studying at soldiers and sergeants training programs. Also, the Minister of Defense visited the MEI museum, where he held a meeting with representatives of the Krasnoyarsk region administration, Krasnoyarsk city administration, the Military Engineering Institute authorities and rectors of Krasnoyarsk universities.
It should be reminded that Shoigu Sergei Kuzhugetovich is a honours graduate of the military department of the Krasnoyarsk Polytechnic Institute (Civil Engineering Department).
During the meeting with the students the Minister of Defence reminded the audience there are 15,000 students studying at soldiers and sergeants training programs in Russian universities. "We badly need now in the army, filled with modern equipment and weapons, came to serve people with a good education. The complexity of the equipment and weapons is so high that we are forced to increase the proportion of contract and to reduce the proportion of recruits, but due to the implementation of the training of soldiers and sergeants project from students we are able to attract highly skilled, well-trained young people with higher education, professionals who are at the right time will be able to perform the necessary tasks at a very high level, "- said the Minister of Defence.
